Pal Joey has been a loyal friend to dance music for almost two decades and he keeps on giving. His productions under aliases Soho and Earth People - to name just a few of his many musical alter egos - are considered heavy hitting house classics the world over and his name is synonymous with groundbreaking futuristic grooves of all stripes.
“You Glow,” is an electro-tinged tune credited to Lascivious – the duo of Pal Joey and Adam Hawkins. The slinky new-wave flavored release builds on the minimal electronic tone of the Lascivious tune “She’s Here,” unleashed on Wave in 2004. It's a deeply sexy post-modern pop song with sweet emotion expressed through its glitchy techno backbeat and a robotic sounding vocal uttered by Pal Joey himself.
Wave delivers two cosmic interpretations by French wiz Teddy G., newly known as Papastomp, on this album. His air Vocal Remix gives the hypnotic beat of the initial song room to breathe by intertwining dreamy sound effects with the rolling melody and dropping in wild drumbeats to add drama and intensity.
The Teddy G. Dub has a dirtier, sleazier sound than the others with its thicker bass line, trippier rhythm cadence and spooky reverb. Peppered throughout the dub are haunting snippets of laughter that add an eerie complexity to the tightly crafted original. It’s a great go-to record for the late night/early morning sessions when music slows down but the grooves get deeper, the moment when everything and everyone in the place glow.
