Antonio Ocasio has delivered a true tribal house banger, blending chest-pounding percussion with sparse vocal cries so you can actually feel the frenzied energy of a drum circle around you. The song is an organic soundtrack of fun, the spirit of a party, the rumbling of a roomful of passionate dancers. As it develops, a funky bassline and soaring synth solo expand the sound and keep the audience moving. The Spirit mix offers a sparser take on the song with a slower build and a more percussive base. Much more clearly identifiable African chants keep the tribal vibe alive.
On the B-side Francois K. offers up his own mix, this one with more urgency and power. Expanding on the percussive foundation, he allows the vocals to take more presence as he subtly increases the density. About halfway through the mix he drops a slick latin piano part, taking the audience from Africa to Cuba and then right back to the dance floor. As always, his masterful use of eq shapes the sound and carries the listener through the track. |
