This Wave Music 'Beach Party' took place in the beautiful outdoor setting of MOMA's PS-1 installation in Long Island City on the afternoon of August 4th 2001 as part of their 'Warm-Up' 2001 summer series.
The DJ line-up was Jenifa Manjaya (Hamsa), Antonio Ocasio (Tribal Winds), Kalim Shabazz (Moments Of Soul), François K. with Boyd Jarvis on Keyboards (Wave). The event also featured a fantastic and spirited live performance by Carlos Gomez's Rumbamerica.
This event attracted a large crowd of people of all walks of life from club kids to artists and families with their kids, most of whom stayed until the end and gave it a very laid-back but appreciative vibe. A special thanks to Jonathan Rudnick from Giant Step for putting the event together as well as to all the support staff and sound crew for a very professional show. |
