Simon Haggis is best known for his long-running “WhistleBump” night in central London, and his involvement with the UK label, STRUT. Over the last six years Simon has been building a studio with recording partner Kevin Long. Using the moniker KLaSH Productions, their varied sound has received international club and radio play from a wide range of DJs such as Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, Danny Krivit and Joe Claussell.
The Awa-Band is an Afro-Latin funk band, probably best known for their world wide hit “Timba”, released in 2000 on Defected. With Latin/African influences, such as heavy percussion and African chants, their material is unique, and the flavor of world music radiates through their use of different languages.
Samuel Kayode first met vocalist Larry Azuka
travelling in Nigeria and after hearing him sing was immediately keen to work with him. Together, they wrote the song "Akoba" and KLaSH Productions, after liking what they heard, went on to produce the track with a dancefloor world-beat flavor.
