Was nice to read Eds thoughts on my X-over to a piece i love and respect so much, & was the Xover that started it all.

Thanks for the kind words Ed, I`m Glad you like my Products like this. This compliment coming from a True veteran like yourself with your experience and knowledge and where you have been in this industry & posting how you like my products like this made my day.

SBS Crossover

What other's don't understand, the SBS crossover is a great unit. I have used and worked with alot of equipment, however I find the SBS crossover is the unit for today. We all love RLA for what it has created. SBS is for today. I highly recommend a SBS crossover, quality, sound and durability. I have an X-5000 which works well. However, I do enjoy using the SBS crossover, great piece. I am speaking from experince using the unit nothing else.

Hi Ed,

Quick question, how are you running the crossover through your rig? Do you use passive or active crossovers for the full-range loudspeakers ie:

full-range crossover out:

> active crossover > amp > loudspeaker

> amp > passive crossover built in to loudspeaker.

have you played with both setups?

tia

1. The answer is right above #1.
2. Contact Shorty he's the one selling them? (no disrespect to Ed Campbell)
3. Ask Shorty he's the one building them.
4. If interested in one, ask Shorty he's the one building them and shipping them.

Ed you are prob one of thee most knowledgable and skilled guys i know in this buis & you really understand how these xovers should work, respond and def the way it should sound, so coming from a educated guy like yourself makes the compliment & reply that much greater.

I voiced the SBS S3X to be a very quiet unit & very very HIFI (which is exactly how you described the S3X and my system at my home, you said this is HIFI this is NOT Pro audio even thou it is Pro Audio). But it was designed how my systems are designed, just to sound amazing with any kind of music passed thru it, be it jazz, classical, disco, r&b / funk, electronica.

With my special process of giving this unit the kind of tone that i wanted, and thought was proper for my unit to sound, NOT to sound like another piece that is out there already or done before It was designed and voiced to lend itself to work amazing with the new recording and download technology to play proper be it WAV, MP# Vinyl, just anything thrown at it new or old. To get this Xover to sound and work rt it took me literally 3 years, looks like i was rt with how i voiced it with the way you described it.

If you recall when i 1st told you about it on the phone, i said It is my vision of what i feel sounds rt on SBS systems, i didnt design this to mimick another product, if you like the way it sounds great and YOU can get one if you like, but if you disagree and are not a fan of it thats great to, but it was designed how i feel it should sound and operate on SBS Systems,, and when you said to me this piece is IT, no need for the RLA no more, i said really, you said time to put away the RLA, it had its time, now THIS is the one.

SBS Answer

To answer all questions, you can actually hook up one amp from the full range output of the SBS, providing you have a well designed full range cabinet. Or you can add an additional active 3 or 4 way crossover on the full range output to have better control over your full range.

My Question to those who:

What components are involved in your set up?

What made gravitate towards RLA designs?

What year did you hear an RLA system ?

What would be classified as the premium RLA system of all time ?

Who did RLA compete with during those years ?

What club did RLA combine with another installer ?

And who is DJ HOBO ?

1. Don't have a dj set up tpe system
2.Just liked the systems a Zanzibar, Club 88, and Cheetahs
3. '87
4.I believe Rosner, Feldman, Graebar(sp?)
5. I'm going with The Garage or The Loft
6. Don't know. Maybe he'll be nice an introduce himself.
As Pointed out by the thorough Mr. Campbell.... the premium RLA System was All Of Them. Each had their own uniqueness about them. Plenty of info on PG and 54 as they were the most popular of his systems. He had many outstanding systems Zanzibar, Club 88, Cheetahs (Paterson,NJ), Melon's (as mentioned by Mr. Campbell), Nell's, Regine's, Cesoir. I might be mistaken but I think that Empire Rolling Rink had an RLA system. Didn't pay that much attention to it as there were too many fine woman in there!

Dear Ed as I said in the past I'm new new in this forum. All I did is ask a few basic questions about this product & out of all the questions I asked I only received one answer & more questions. Why are we comparing a product to any one else all I was intrested is what the cost was, how fast can I get one & if I can try one. Now with that been said I found out that I need to speak to shorty so why you keep giving me the answer & not shorty. Now to answer your question I feel it really doesn't matter who djhobo is but I don't answer a qestion with another question. My name is vito I'm from N.J. & I reading that shorty is from jersey so I feel it would be better to deal with someone local. I own one restaurant & opening two more with one of them turning into a lounge after hours this is why I've been doing research on this forum & others about many products & this happen to be one of them.

Vito, the reason I asked you the question because there is alot of people on this sight who hide behind names to start drama. Shorty is a close friend of mind as well as some others on this site. However I have found that there is alot of bickering that is going on. You will from my point of view and experience enjoy his product, no matter what others may claim.

Ed

likely, the information you seek will not be posted in this thread.
as folks have mentioned, lots of drama surounding SBS,
and their product offerings, here sometimes.

i suggest picking up the phone and calling or emailing SBS directly.

good luck, i hope you find your answers.
