Some pics from a day party I did today. The party was a memorial for a very dear friend that passed away. The system went over great even though I brought less then half of it. It sounded great and it wasn't even sweating.

Hell yeah, very nice. So how well does all that pack up - i.e. what kind of set-up time and what size trailer?

From the time I get there to the time the first dj can go live is about 2 hours with unpacking everything, getting everything placed correctly and then wiring.

I rented a 16FT truck with a lift gate. Loading and unloading the truck at the house was a one man load. Load in and load out at the space I had help. Having 4 casters on the back of the subs and a lift gate on the truck makes a world of difference lol.

If your refering to the little ipod sized unit next to the amp racks that is an Edirol R-09HR Digital Recorder I used to record all the sets from the party. Its a GREAT little unit, I love it. It uses SD and high capacity SDHC memory cards and can record in full wav from 24 bit 96khz down to 16 bit 44.1 khz CD quality. You can also record direct to mp3 in 320kbps down to 128kbps.

If you record in WAV individual files are limited to 2gb (common on most recording programs anyways) but when you hit the 2gb limit it will close the current file and automatically start a brand new one without you even needing to touch the unit. According to the manual, if you use an 8gb card ( I use 16gb) it will record for up to 720 minutes (12 hours!) in CD quality 16 bit 44.1khz wav. If you want to record longer then that OR you want to record a individual set larger then 2gb in ONE file that same 8gb card will record in 320kbps mp3 for 3,080 minutes (51.33 hours!!!!), and thats continuous... no file size limit in mp3, you could literally record a single file that is 51 hours long lol

If you were talking about the unit on the other side of the amp racks that is a power unit made by Pulizzi (sp?). I found it in a surplus store for $5 lol. It is 30 amp 125 volt with a NEMA L5-30 connector which I used to run the system from a generator with 30 amp service. I needed it because this gig was literally put together in a week and the park did not allow us to use their power. I have a distro but stupid me never bought the feeder cable and step down adapters I need. When I signed on for the gig there was no time to order the feeder cables as they would never have made it in time. This unit was a life saver and came in VERY handy.

Looks like you have it pretty well figured out. Do you ever take all your subs out (don't you have 8 or 12 of them)?

Yes I have the set up pretty dialed in at this point.

I have 10 of the subs but have not yet had an opportunity to fire up all 10 together. Hearing what 4 could do outdoors was amazing, I can't even imagin how insane all 10 would be wether indoors OR outdoors lol.

A few photos of my home system...

2 x Stanton 500ALII carts
2 x Technics 1200mkii
Numark MMX-1000 mixer
AudioControl crossover (18db/oct @ 90hz)
Yamaha M-2 and M-4 amplifiers
Yamaha NS1000M speakers
self-built 12" sealed subs, gets the lows on those Kerri Chandler records!

Basic rig but it rocks!

I tried some EQ devices at various points but it sounds better to me without EQ.

This is a thread I can view over and over again, there's just so many lovely setups here

I'll recieve my Rane mp2016s and xp2016s soon so I will post some pics of my stuff when they arrive. I'm dreaming about building my own console one day, but until I do I'm planing to just modify some ikea stuff to use temporarily meanwhile I continue dreaming.

Sorry for the bad picture, but I guess my cellphone doesn't have a state of the art camera it once had anymore

Went for a ghetto solution on how to temporarily use the mixer without a proper table for it. I had two speakers I didn't use that I placed it between... Great height on them too, so it kind of makes the perfect temporary solution.

I want to build a console, but got no time atm to do so right now. On the other side there's plenty of time deciding how to build the console... Do you guys prefere having the mixer in an angle or is it ok having it faced straight up too... I've only tried it faced up as in the picture and I think it's ok, but still got to try having it in an angle before deciding what to do.

I prefer angle but it's seems to be a very personal thing as every console I have built for a DJ's home or mobile use has had different configurations!
I think if you use a horizontal mixer in the venues you play in you get use to it but for a rotary mixers I generally find angle is standard but the amount of angle differs between users!

If you get some cable ties and a couple of strips of wood or steel and strap the strips to the rack-mount holes of your MP2016 & XP2016 to fix them together, then you can prop up the back of your mixer and play with angles!

Hey Kevin,

Nice console. Could you post more pics? I was also contemplating on building a similar console with 8 rack spaces, instead of the usual 6 spaces.

I have an Allen & Heath Xone:62 aside from my other gear. I'd like to be able to also include the Xone:62 into the console.

Hey Kev I see you have 3 mixers( A slide, A Urei and A rane mixer) I see you have the GSA and the Thrive. Now let me ask you do you have everything working independently. What is the thrive controling the cd players or tt's? What is the GSA controlling? What all three mixers controling? I'm Lost. BTW the console is nice bro. I have two mixers in my console, (Urei & Bozak )one controls the cd players the other control the tt's.The Bozak is used as a line mixer Urei Conrols the TT's. Bozak is running into the Urei.(no swtiching off of one mixer the use the other.)
