I had it custom made. Exactly to my specifications by Odyssey Innovative Designs.

My coffin has three 2 rack space areas on the bottom/front for amps, power conditioners, expanders and CD players.

It has three slanted 4 rack space areas for mixers, expanders, CD controllers and crossovers.

It has in the the back, three 4 rack spaces for rear access.

And of course, three spaces for the Technics.

According to Odyssey, they've only made two "three turntable" coffins in the past. They were for both for Murk Records.
But this is the first one they made that has three areas of 2 rack spaces each in the front.

I'm not sure about this part, I could be wrong, but the two for Murk didn't have rear access. Not 100%, though.
So don't quote me on that specific point. But I specifically asked for rear access on my coffin.

It's not difficult if you have the tools. I don't.

It's not difficult if you have the time. I don't.

It's not difficult if you the skills. I really don't.

One little screw up and it doesn't look professional.
It looks home made.

I make enough in my job to splurge on this small gift from me, to me.

I think the Rane MP 2016A can stand on it's own. UREI's and Bozaks (the original) didn't come with an expander.

What I need is an Isolator.

I am going to have to work up the nerve to post a picture of my modest setup once I put it all together this weekend.

I think thats a pretty cool idea to use the MP2016a and an isolator instead of the expander. I used to have a Bozak and got rid of it when I thought I was done DJing Thank God I never got rid of my Vinyl. I am still kicking myself for getting rid of the Bozak! What an idiot!

Post it. I used to have a beat up home set-up.
Didn't keep me from posting it.
Some people have no shame.

Shit happens.

I had a Bozak and a UREI, too. Had to sell them 'cause I fell on hard times.
Had to feed my kids, you know.

But now I'm ballin', kid. So I got's some new toys to show off.

OK, you convinced me. I will take a picture this weekend and post it.

I got 3 kids to feed too and my wife is seeing this becoming a money pit. But like I told her. Better I am home spinning records and having drinks with family and friends than being out who knows where having drinks with strangers.

I think she is now looking at it as a good investment.

Do you have a copy of the specs you gave them? Pretty please? I'll be your best friend? I tried to talk to them about this and they just couldn't understand what i was asking for so the specs would come in handy so i could go back to them.

How much did they charge you for this case?

I have already contacted odyssey and they looked up the orders for Murk and your coffin and I told them the changes I need for mine (8 rack spaces instead of 4 on the mixer racks, 12 inches deep at front of racks and a few other minor things) They are getting back to me to let know if they can do what I need... mine CAN NOT be any wider than 63 inches or it will not fit in my room.

How wide is yours and what did they charge you total? I'm just wondering if I'm looking at a few hundred.. or more like $1000.

I also am going to attach home made CDJ stands to the back once i recieve it. Stands will be made from pluming supplies at Home Depot (corogated pipe, flanges and 45 degree elbows).

if it is closer to a grand, you may be able to finds a local carpenter or furniture maker that would do it cheaper...

just a thought...

60" wide. The way you want your coffin is much bigger than how mine is built. You are looking at $1200 ~ $1400.

That's not including shipping.

I got lucky. Odyssey is 12 miles from me. I drove over there and picked it up myself.
They were trying to get me to buy it from Guitar Center.
But I am so close so it made no sense.

Odyssey told me Guitar Center would of marked it up at least 10%.
And Guitar Center wouldn't of let me pick it up either. I don't know if that was just BS the Odyssey sales rep was trying to pull or what.

I almost had to pay for shipping and the mark up. Whew.
That wouldn't have made it worth it to me.

That was my first attempt after I was outbid on the Murk coffin.

Three different (local) cabinet-makers were asking $1500. And they didn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. One guy's attitude was "I'll take a crack at it".

Umhh, no. I'm not gonna drop a grand and a half and your not even sure what it is you are building.

Wow. Thats alot. I had them build me a custom coffin about 5 years ago and it cost me $250. It was like a standard coffin but twice as deep so it would fit the Rane MP 2016a and MP44.

I am in san Jose and will have no choice but to have it shipped. We'll see what they have to say about price.

My main thing is it needs to be deep enough to fit the urei 1620 with cabling with no problems BUT also be able to hold a rane MP 2016a, XP 2016a, my Isolator, and a meter in ONE rack... so the mixer racks need to be 8 spaces. I don't want the meter and isolator in one of the side racks.. I just don't like that.

I felt what they charged me was a bit pricey, too.

Considering that they already manufacture Items that are relatively the same size. These items go for about $300 ~ $400.
The largest carpeted coffin they make goes for about $400 or so.

Yeah, it's alot, but the price of everything has gone up in the last 5 years. Especially fuel, to ship lumber. I think what made it pricey was the fact that they just don't make "turntable" coffins in the same quantities they used to.

5 years ago we (me and my DJ homies) used to talk shit about mobile CD DJs. Nowadays, my mobile setup will be fully Serato by Thanksgiving.....

I'm back to a 100% wax based setup again lol the only cd player I now have is the one on my laptop.

But that's not all! I am going to try and make my own console this summer thanks to some persuasive bulling from DJ Cary on this forum lol If I ever get it built this is going in it:
Allen&Heath VF-1

Pioneer CMX-3000 (like a hybrid CDJ-800 and 1000)
