Wow Kevin, that set-up is insane!

I am gonna get a new mixer this month and I have another turntable that I am refurbishing. Both turntables are obviously heavily modded and sound incredible.

WOW Nice kit, Bryston amp, kef speakers, Nakamichi 600 tape deck; Very nice!! What mixer u getting?
I would take that hard drive that is on top of the speakers and move it though cos they dont like beeing next to big ass magnet's like speakers unless they are shielded speakers.

I love the finish on it, are you going to have a 3rd turntable cos it looks very empty without something there.
I would of had the front with the mixer though tilted a bit, if you could post up the plans that would be great to look at!
Nice kit!

Thanks for the tip about the hard drive! I had a little 160GB one on top of my sub too, I have now moved it.
I am getting a Bozak, I should have got one 3 years ago instead of the rane, but oh well. I will have to then build a console (which turned me off of a Bozak 3 years ago). At that point I may change the speakers and amp (which I love) to powered Tannoy system 800's mounted to the wall. I have trouble monitoring when I am mixing with my current setup.

Building a console can be tough but is very rewarding when done. Once you've got it its hard to think how you ever lived without one.

I do have larger pics, on my computer. Give me a bit to refind my photobucket account and then link to the URL.

Yes that is the Zone S2. All VCA, one of the best sounding mixers I have ever heard that wasn't a reconditioned vintage.

Thanks! Yes there is supposed to be a 3rd SL1200 there, but I am going to be putting in 2 x CDJ1000's instead. Was going to go the Serato route but could not get use to it and was worried about the quality of the interface box. Maybe i'll try it again. Just about finished the plans to they will be up shortly!

We made our room a little more tidy as seen in these pics. Equipment wise we've lately added another CDJ200 and a Vestax PMC 06 for a little bit of scratching fun

It looks like a good amount of people still play records on here.

I bought Traktor Scratch when I was playing a lot of modern music that wasn't worth shelling out $11 for an import 12". Now I am buying more vinyl than ever and use Traktor when I do mix genre gigs.

Anyways, here is my new mixer. It is a 1978 vintage and was installed in the NYC club Inferno. No doubt it has had a lot of legends mix on it, I hope some of that talent rubs off! The system there was done by Richard Long. I don't know if he modded it or if that was done by GSA. It also has Alps pots.

Nice!

Stupid question from an Emapth owner: How much better is the Bozak than the Empath?

I love the flexibility of the Empath, but this this sounds really great. I notice and deep low end and soft highs and zero ear fatigue. Also there is way better stereo separation and the sound stage is nice and deep. I haven't got to crank it much though because my wife is a vet student and studies all the time. Most of the music I play through it was made to sound good on it, so I imagine records that sound harsh on the Rane will sound nice on it. mp3s sound nice through it too as one would expect.

Some Questions

Which Inferno's club did it come out of ?
There were two Inferno's Clubs in NY, I use to go to the one on 19th street where Rene Hewit played and they orig. had a Soundworkshop mixer there. Afterwards, I can't remember what they put in it might have been a bozak, and I don't think Richard did the sound there ether.

The other Inferno's I went to was in Mid town near 34th street, and David Morales played there I remember the Bozak there and that system I think was put in by Richard. But the unit you have has been modified. I don't remember when they started doing mod's to that mixer. But can you tell me when they started doing mod's on the Bozak mixer ?, because i remember going out alot and the Bozak mixers i saw were all orig. no mod's. it seems to me that all the mod's have been a current thing.

Then again I could be wrong too. But got to tell you that is a good looking mixer for the age.

peace always

Yes, These are all questions that I have as well. I am assuming that this mixer came from the Inferno #2 because I bought the mixer from Roman Ricardo and he used to DJ there. He also told me that it was installed in 1979 by RLA. I had assumed that GSA had done the mods. As soon as my ACF-50 comes so I can clean the connections, I will open it up and look for a date on the Alps pots (I assume they are original, the AB pots date to 1978) and on the switch housings. I would like to know any info you have on the club. I agree that is s in very fine shape, although it looked pretty bad in the pics that I got.
