That's a very nice console there, I actually found out one of my old school friends that I haven't seen in a long time is actually doing carpentry at the mo. I have spoken to him today and planning on building a similar console to yours but with a raised angled shelf type thing for Pioneer CDJ's, looking forward to this as this means I will have space for isolators, filters etc...AND IT WONT HURT MY BACK!!!!!!!! My current console kills my back as the turntables are way to low.

The console was in a famous club in Boston Massachusetts called Narcissus. The AT meter and DBX 500 are the only things that have been in the console since about 1980. The Effectron came in 1983, The Urei was installed in 82. Before that there was a Sound Workshop 421 mixer. I installed the dbx 3bx ds and obviously i put the Denon cd players in a bunch of years ago. This console was taken out of service and has been in my possesion since 1993. I started djing on it in 1984. Before that my father had let me play music on it during the daytime when the place was closed back in the early eighties while he would be running shop. Thats when I got the djing bug HA!!

Nice mix Martin. I love that first track. I play that all the time.

Couldn't help noticing the record on the left deck with the red label.... Tango Recordings. One of my favorite lables of all times. Have you ever had the pleasure of seeing Tony Hewitt Live (the man behind Tango, Detour and Nightshift recordings)? He is a San Francisco house legend although he's originaly from Manchester England he's been and SF local since the early 90's. He's just known simply as Tony out here though... doesn't need the last name lol. He is one of the main people that is responsible for getting me into house with his sets from the now legendary "Gathering" parties. He's an awsome dj and a great guy. I've booked him to play several parties and he's played on my old system countless time. I fricken love Tony aka "the Geezer"

Thanks for the comments guys.
Haha yeah you got a good eye there Kev, it’s Onionz-Horns in my cave on Tango, that was one of my first US house type of records that I got when I was younger, Mr Danny Rampeling always used to play it on his show.
The people that got me into the US scene and sounds when I was young were Danny Rampling and Yousef (not that good any more) here, Danny had a radio show on Radio 1 and that was the first time I heard proper house, I was hooked forever after!
This must have been when I was 14, before that I was playing Prog House due to my main influence being John Digweed.
Yousef made things worse cos he made an Essential Mix for Radio 1 I will never forget! Actually I wanted to forget as after a few months I erased the tape so I would let go hahahah cos I couldn’t get anything that sounded like it.
At the time I had never heard of anything of the like! His mixing was on par with Digweeds blends and the TUNES ohh dear god the tunes! The fact I couldn’t get hold of any of the records made my craving for US house even worse lol
These were the days before downloads and online record stores were still new’ish.
As to the man behind Tango, I wasn’t aware he also was responsible for Night Shift (another one of my faves) and I wasn’t aware of his DJ status let alone he was originally from the UK! Lol
That is soo cool that he played on your rig

Not only is Tony behind Tango and Nightshift, he's also behind Detour Recordings as well. I just can't say enough good things about Tony, he is my all time favorite San Francisco DJ... period end of story, and one of my all time favorites world wide as well. Just thinking about some of his classic old school sets I witnessed live back in the mid 90's at The Gathering and Basics parties.. oh the memmories. He's one of my biggest influences and is a big part of what made me love house music... west coast style. He's one of the nicest guys you could ever meet as well.
