The Evolution of the CDJ

Interesting video from Pioneer on the history of the cdj. Watching this video makes me think a new cdj is in our future.

Interesting... Its the Pioneer marketing machine at work. Ironically, with everyone using USB drives, there is no need to have an actual CD drive in the unit anymore. Personally, I don't like scrolling through a small screen (its similar to looking at a laptop) so I don't get Oaky's comment about the laptop being a barrier.

I agree that the CDJ-1000 was a pivotal unit in establishing the CD's dominance in the DJ booth. I would equate it as the "1200" of the CD age. No frills, no gimmicks just a like a 1200. I really believe that if you want to see how good a modern DJ is, put them on a set of 1000s.

I only wished that Pioneer would improve the build quality of their top units especially when they charge the insane prices that they do for them.
