FLAC Frontend. Alternative?

Hello all.

I've been using FLAC frontend for ages to encode/decode my WAV's. I've just upgraded my music PC to Windows 7, and Frontend doesn't work with it. Can anyone recommend something else? Simple as possible, don't need bells and whistles.

Cheers Smile

why flac.. why not WAV or AIFF? HD space is cheap..

Im sure flac is fine for audio quality but as I buy all my music in WAV or AIFF (now because Beatport figured out the meta data issue) why would you want to encode music after buying it..

I have no time to listen to all my music let alone encode it.. lol

Good point

I guess it's habit. Having done it for so long. Oh, and you get some rudimentary tags with flac. But you're right, it doesn't really seem worth it. Especially when the production software I use (Steinberg) doesn't read FLAC so I have to decode/recode whenever I want to edit/process.

Thanks.

I buy wav and convert to flac.

I do so to free up about half the space, and get tags.

Flac is lossless, so no worries there.

Traktor handles flac, and I like being able to tag.

also, with SSD's space is not so cheep anymore

Foobar is a pretty nice player and it does batch FLAC conversions, OGG and a few other lossless formats.

good point Barton, I did pick up a thunderbolt drive to free up usbs on the mac to get around the ssd space issue..

I have started using Flac with Traktor for some files I receive from others using that format, works well in Traktor but I cant preview in itunes or my finder.. fuck i hate itunes

and mac is a pain in the ass too but its too reliable for audio to use anything else

For anyone interested, I found a simple, free program called 'Trader's Little Helper'.
