They sound incredible, though I'm still not sure how much/often I'm going to be able to turn them up. The neighbours are very forgiving but the K-horns will definitely shake their walls if I turn them up. Gonna play it cool for a while til I get a sense of how much they can hear at normal volumes.

I'll be dragging them across the street for a party soon, so that's when I'll have a chance to turn 'em loose and see what they can really do!

And, they're being driven by a Bryston 4B, that's the two little green lights in the bottom of the console.

This is not my booth but a very solid one. Club is called Bob Beaman in Munich, Germany. They opened in late 2010 and focus on oldschool house, hiphop, funk and so on. Kerry Chandler, Pete Rock and many other people played there. Booth is using a Crest Audio CP 6210 Mixer & CP 6220 Expander. Very similar to the Rane MP2016 (original) & XP2016 that I own but people write in here that Rane has better sound. I did not hear it live, as the arist (Dinky) used a Xone 92 that night.

They have 3 Technics with Ortofons Nightclub MK II (sadly could be better), Bozak Iso-X isolators and 3 CDJ2000 and speakers are partly from Martin Audio.

The complete room is black wood only, even the walls. DJBooth looks fantastic, you can even sit behind it (no VIP) and have a very nice flirt. I did so . Club was completely crowded until the end so a real house feeling was build inside. 100dbA all the time and very sharp and clear sound. Yes I have a very good custom made ear protection. Never seen something like that in Munich before!

On the roof they have installed a brilliant lighting, which feels very different from the Watergate Club in Berlin, more ambient colors and patterns. It is controlled by a analog device, no computer screen. A crazy woman stands above the crowd (next to the DJ) and uses sliders to set the lighting "mood" fitting to the music. Maybe DMX stuff, no idea. Some video of that, mixing and sound:

I like it, it's very clean looking venue!
I don't know about the monitor placement, I always try to keep them as close to in front of the DJ as possible, I don’t like the idea of shooting them straight down the DJ’s ear, even if they don’t care!

I wounder how the wooden walls sound, i did a venue which was 50% wood and it was a nice sound. It was harder then Gypsum but was real easy to deal with!
I kind of like the lighting, but i would probably add some mirror balls,, i love mirror balls!! I assume it’s some LED’s behind the plexiglass.. it’s nice!

I tried to check out those Crest Audio mixers but the Australian distributor wasn't interested in importing them so i couldn't get a demo, has anyone run one up against a Rane?????

The drilled many holes into the wood as well as an acoustic treatment:

I think they used a sort of radial pine wood veneer like in this newer project. No idea which color they use. I sent an email to the architects, maybe they are generous and help

We only have a comparison vs. a Urei 1620LE. Says it all, Crest is a poor quality copy of the Rane MP2016 design:

Thanks, Zen5656 the club looks really sweet! Looks like the perfect size to me and i like the booth being right on the dance floor.

Im really into my small clubs these days. I live in Liverpool (UK) and have been going to a little club in the cellar of a bar called 'The Shipping Forecast' the club is called 'The Hold' and it only holds about 150/200. The atmosphere is always amazing and for a little venue they have had some great DJ's in the last year - Dixon, Andrew Weatherall, Moodymann, Maya Jane Coles etc. I will try an post some pics later of it

Nice to see a rotary installed in the booth as well thanks for sharing

That's a nice little space, i too love spaces that size, gives a nicely homely feel which makes for a good party. It's well done on design front.

Those monitors are completely in the wrong the place, should be on poles in each corner of the booth, will fill out the dance floor system better as well.

Poles destroy the look/design of the booth. They also need some space for the VJ on the right of the DJ. When a Laptop DJ plays they also place an extra laptop stand in the middle of the booth. So if you add monitors now it is "too much" and the artists hides behind the booth.

By the way: they also have a very good choice of beer. Independent bavarian brewery. No commercial stuff in there

Use some Void Airten as monitors and the problem is solved.
Besides I have always this type of discussion when building a booth, could not get it. A DJ booth has only one task: To be the perfect working space for the artist.
And that means perfect monitoring!

The club is really nice but I could not get why they use BR subs. Ok they are using one of the best BR subs out there. But come on classic House music and no horn loaded subs?

Reading about my favourite spot in Munich finally made me register after reading along for quite a while.

The place is very nice and hast the best sound in the city. Bookings are also very nice.

The only thing to add to Zen's very good description (btw: congrats, you've even made it to their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater ) is that, as far as I've read, they actually designed the club around the sound system instead of just taking the room, adding some fancy furniture and decoration and put in a sound system.

For more pictures check also: http://www.augustcc.com/

@ Laurin: it's not really all oldschool/classic house, even though they had some nice 'classic' acts play there (e.g. last year Kerri Chandler, Robert Owens, Osunlade, Terrence Parker,...).

Generally I would describe the sound as 'contemporary house music' (but only the good stuff ) with artists from labels like Mood Music, Freerange, Compost Records and all its sub-labels etc.

Coming up soon (February 17th) will be Mr. White, who is touring Europe at the moment and apparently still looking for gigs (http://www.comboo.de/agency/?p=1481) so if there are any promoters/clubowners form Germany/Europe around here this might be a chance to book him for at least relatively low travel fees..

I was refering to using the rear of the booth, so the monitors face the dancefloor and Air Tens would look nice if looks are of concern.

Probably wouldn't work either, as there are always people dancing directly behind the DJ booth, so I'm not sure if one would want to position the monitors there.

Plus there is a bench in the back of the booth where the entourage of the DJ usually hangs out, so there would be constantly people standing between the DJ and the monitors.

The way the monitors flown now are ok.
Did this a few times myself.

But putting "good lookers" like the Airten near to the ceiling in front of the booth would be much better.

To the 'contemporary house music':
Ok playing stuff like "Julio Bashmore - Battle For Middle You" BR subs could be an advantage, but ported horns can do the same thing.
I simply dont like BR for EDM and never heard a system I really liked that used BR subs.

This is my current music room, although there's been a few changes Rane Empath rotary, 2 CDJ 850's, an E&S iso and an EFX 1000.
