Nice! What happened to the console though? That beautiful sliding shelf you made for the CDJ's looks like they either cut it.... or pulled it out all together and put the CDJs on something smaller. Either way it doesn't look the same.

Looks like a good night right there!

Can anyone tell me what that jacking number is that's playing at 7:30 in the first clip? Pretty please?

yeah his hands were tottaly glued to that isolator, so much so that it sounded like the records were recorded wrong i mean am i missing something that im not hearing in those clips but i think the effect of the isolator used too much can be a form of distortion in that i cant enjoy the track i mean ive seen ppl use isolators but that just sounded like peices of the puzzle were gone

i know its cool

just my preference and i know it will bite me in the ass

Sound is crap on it to me. But try it for your self.

i get what vega and krivit and others are doing with an isolator to them its like playing an instrument and the way they choose to accentuate the records with the use of this frequency division allows for dif parts of the records to shine and be heard with greater acuracy i get this im just saying it seems overdone in some cases

I agree. The worst is when another dj is doing it while you are playing. Not gonna name people... but some of you know who they are...

Hmm, sounded better in the Krivit clip!

I'd assumed it was an old Chicago classic I hadn't heard, but for some reason I took an instant dislike to it when I realised it was recent (2008)!

Kind of a Green Velvet imitation, dontcha think?

...sadly overdone in A LOT of cases now that isolators are appearing more in clubs, and Krivit/Vega and particularly Clausell are the worst culprits.

There's nothing wrong with tweaking the frequencies to enhance a mix, and dropping the bass can be devastating when done at the right moment (& sparingly).

But I've got to say this isolator-masturbation is infuriating, sounds rubbish and screams 'LOOK AT ME I'M MIXING!'... please, just play the record as it was intended to be played.

(Sorry to crash the thread with a rant, great looking set-up there and I've every respect for the above-mentioned DJ's in all other respects )

I think you should leave Danny out of this. Me does more dancing than iso manipulation. He is very subtle and tasteful. Joe on the other hand...

I think it's the same with Vega as well. The only reason people say it's too much is from the clips they see on Youtube. It seems the only time people film is when he is on the iso. When he plays for almost 12 hours, 30 seconds on an iso is the last thing your gunna remember of the night.

...I'm only saying it as I see it.

As I've said, I have the utmost respect for the guys I mention, their pedigree as tastemakers/remixers etc. is unquestionable, but for some reason, these are the guys that overdo it, (and I'm sorry, but I refuse to buy the fact that it's only the 30 or so seconds that people are filming is when they are 'working' the iso).

Martinez Brothers are at it too... undoubtedly talented DJ's playing some great stuff but killing it with with excessive 'tweaking'.

No probs bro, each to their own. Just voicing my opinion too. Where in the world have you seen them play? Maybe they play differently at different places?
