I wanted to take the time to show our Bad Neighbor processor.

The Bad Neighbor was designed to be inserted in the loop of a mixer, or a efx loop of the Thrive audio Isolator. The Bad Neighbor is to be used as a tool for a dj to add detail and articulation on the kicks and bass lines & to eliminate the rolling and droning bass lines that have to much hang time so you can give it more strike, speed, transient response.

You adjust your desired amount of process level with a single pot, the more you turn the process pot clock wise the more articulate the source will sound. When the pot is at 7 o`clock its fully bypassed, some songs might not need this process or you might not want to use it on that passage of music.

What is amazing about this processor is not only what it does for the bottom end, but it will add depth, impact, detail and snap on snares to round them off a bit with more weight to fatten it up. But it will add air and extension around vocals & to the Top end as well. It just works really well in the full spectrum & will not deteriorate the signal at all, it is totally transparent.

This unit is not like a Boom box at all as some might think, it is completely safe on a system, you can run the processing pot wide open and it will not require an amplifier to provide more power and clip, it is completely safe on any system of any power with any user.

The LEDs were only used on the 1st test prototype for evaluation.

so, what exactly is this thing?

it's not a sub-synth type of box? (i'm assuming that's what you mean when you say "not like a Boom box at all as some might think", unless i misunderstood)

is it an expander? (if so, how do you avoid hitting the amp too hard when you have it fully engaged?)

or is it some kind of compressor/limiter? (and if so, how is it able to "add air and extension", as well as "add detail and articulation on the kicks and bass lines & to eliminate the rolling and droning bass lines"?)

not looking for trade secrets or trying to pick a fight about lack of technical specs, just wondering what the hell this thing is.

also wondering if the "gain" knob simply adjusts input gain, and if so, does it need to be tweaked much for different sources?

hmnn, that actually sounds pretty close to what Shorty is describing, and even has a somewhat similar layout. wonder if it's a clone?

interesting idea, but looks like the original was discontinued quite some time ago.

the thing that confuses me about it though is that if the phase problems it aims to correct are common to all speakers, than wouldn't the speakers that a record was mixed also have those same issues? so wouldn't "correcting" those issues screw up the frequency response that the producer intended? or is this a more subtle effect than what i'm imagining?

anyone ever use one?

i have one IRL...

it's fun to play with, but doesn't seem to stay in-line for ever
(ie i take it out after a few weeks, normally)

If you wanted to check it out, we could work something out
if you cover shipping... in in the denver, co area, roughly

nah, i have no system worth plugging it in to.
my interest in this stuff comes more from enjoying dancing, enjoying DJing, and being interested in the science (and history) behind it.

although i was reading that people in the 80s were using this box to record, so i'll mention your offer to some of the guys i know who have proper recording studios.

However will be nice i(f your agenda is not tight) can be some youtube video? uploaded in HD so we can see the tweeks, and test it in a club,, from youtube directly , will be interesting to hear the unit in action and have you in screen tweaking it, with some great bass and kicks,,,,
