Height

Aim to have the tonearm level in the horizontal plane when needle is in groove.

headshell weight.

You might find it imposable to track beyond about 2.5g without that small plate. Can't remember how much extra a 680 weighs but you need the weight with ortofons and 500's.

Correct tonearm height adjusting

I wonder if my tonearm is well adjusted.

I am using a Technics SL1210MkII with a Stanton 680EL. Now my tonearm is at 3.5mm in the height ring. I'm not using the extra weight in the headshell and my slipmat is very thin (only 1mm).
I'm doing height adjustment by ear because the operating instructions are based on adjustments with the Technics mat.

What height do you use with your 680s? Any advice will be welcome.

Tracking force without headshell weight

Thanks for the reply Dave.

I set the tracking force to 3 grams and I think I could go beyond 3.5 grams without the extra weight, but I don't need too much pressure for home DJing.

And I will try to have the tonearm level in the horizontal plane.

These should track nicely. Shorty might give some advice also as these are popular cart.
