Does anyone know if it is possible to get bookshelf speaker stands that are tall and sturdy enough to bring a speaker up to standing ear level?
I have recently had a new DJ console built for home use but my speakers (B&W DM602s) need to sit seperate from the console now. I have temporarily fashioned some speaker stands out of 3 MDF vinyl boxes stacked on top of each other which bring the speakers roughly to the height I want them at so I could stick with it.
I was just wondering if there are any solutions out there as I can't say I have ever seen a bookshelf speaker stand that brings a speaker to standing ear height. Perhaps because they are bookshelfs and as the name suggests are suppose to sit on a shelf!
we usually build them for our clients, a easy way is to find a local welder and get them made out of 4" RHS tubing sitting on a 12" square plate (and whatever top plate is required for your speakers. then get them powder coated and stick some rubber matting to the base plate (don't want to scratch the floors)..
This way you can specify the exact height you need.
You can even fill the tube with sand or concrete if you want to weigh them down a bit!
I currently use two sections of 4" angle insted of the tube to form a cross but it's a bit of fiddling around...
