Has anyone tested a few phono pre-amps for use within a club set up, Technics 1200's to Urei, and can recommend some good models please?

cheers, simon

Hey Simon,

Didn't realise you hung out here, I been browsing for a while. Anyway came to Whistlebump on Sat and had throughly good time. Was DJ Deeps mixer actaully been used or something else? Was loud (spent most of the night nearer the middle-back) but was nice and clear.

Anyway as for phono preamps I can't really commet but I did use a Musical fidelity XLP with a 1210, Ortofon Nightclub and Xone 62 and was surprised by hugely extended bottom end. They around 100 and easy to find on ebay althought the prices are inflated. There also the XLPS which is meant to be even better. If this is any better than Urei preamps I don't know though.

thanks for that, I'll look into them, and thanks for coming on sat - glad you enjoyed it!

it was my urei and a dope real 3-way being used. I did turn it down as it was very loud, it's a proper analogue rig and it was only half way up!

cheers, simon

preamp

Look into Creek Audio. I believe OSH 8. I've have this one, it won't compromise your sound quality.
