wow looks like it went to a war zone.....

Bourns and AB pots.... dual op amps mounted two to a IC socket -- and RCA ICs not the expected TL0s...

sure are alot of outputs, are they mono outputs -- I thought the X1000 was a two way....

They used what was available at the time, and the TLO series probably wasnt around yet!

this was origonaly a two way. Bass and highs. I modified it to a threeway on the bass side so it had control over the mids also. Had to trim it down at the amps LOL!!!. If my memory serves me. The system was basic. 2 double 15 scoops with a lens on top and a bullet cluster. Crown 300, crown 150 and crown 75.

So do I. things have changed and realy not for the best. I go into these clubs and cringe!!!! Scott I am so glad you and Gary are out there doing what at the time everyone thought was crazy . i was so sick of everyone in the pa bussiness saying the only sound I knew was the disco curve. LOL!!!! While they were makeing 100 bucks a nght I was doing 25 to 50 thousand dollor sound systems. That was my problem it should have been 50 to 100 thousand Oh well

so....

looking at this board more closely, all teh print appears in perfect condition, but the board itself looks 'ragged' i guess just not as smmoth and 'finished' as i am used to seeing...

is that typical for boards from that period, or is that a sign of more of a boutique type production...

First of all that board has been in a box for over 25 years in my garage. That was about it back then. You can see where the buffers were and the accual filter was. Plus one board did all. It was easy to change. I was tapeing boards 2:1 then taking them to get shot and etched. By the time you got 1 board back for prototype. You had close to $1000 into it. Thats time and design. Now with computors. Man pull out express pcb. makes it easy. Etch it yourself and you can do it for a couple bucks.

ahhhh ok, starting to make sense....

its a shame that the kit type electronics have gone by the wayside...

component tolerences are up,someone could use classic, maybe public domain designs to sell in kit form...

and then maybe more younger kids (like me) would care more about audio because they were able to be exposed to some higer classed designs at an affodable price -- and they could also learn about how the stuff really works too....

I always say kiss it. You can't change physics. Sound was being produced the same now as it was back in the time. Its the way they record it. Sound is 20hz to 20,000 hz. nothing will change that.
