Thoughts on the DJM 1000

Hey I was just wondering what you guys think of the DJM 1000?

It's crazily expensive new, but the 2nd hand prices are now to a point that I'm actually considering one. But since only a few thousand were ever sold worldwide, I haven't yet played with one. The master isolator and Pioneer workflow really appeal to me, along with the double send/returns and tons of in and outputs.

Apparantly its an entirely different beast than regular Pioneer mixers, with actual quality faders, fully digital before other mixers were.

How does it compare to lets say a Rodec 180mk3 soundwise?

I can't tell you how it compares to a Rodec, but I used one last year at a festival and was very happy with it. Nice build quality, long faders, great layout etc.

The system I was playing on was a huge Dub/Reggae system, and the guys know their onions sound-wise. They told me that because the system gets hired out to a lot of dance festivals they're always being asked for Pioneer mixers instead of the A&H V6 they usually use. They got the 1000 as a compromise between flexible, and not compromising the sound of their much loved system.

Of course, it didn't stop 70% of DJ's playing MP3's through a phone
