Very nice videos!
Stereo is no longer David's correct? What happened to their original sound system?

Since 2009 the club has reopened with some of the original owners and one of the original managers.

some of the original Soundsystem that used to be in Stereo.. JBL 2395,s 2402,s all in the basement in storage..

the scoops and berthas are restored in beautiful finish on the cabinets, semi gloss polished resin. scoops are loaded with TAD the Berthas JBL 2242H, horns are TAD 4002, tweeters JBL 2405,s

the booth monitors are TAD walnut wood horn copy, loaded with TAD 4002 and each side has two TAD TM1201H paired with a 2405 and a booth sub?

Amps are all Lab Gruppen FP+ series

the monitoring is the best I have heard in a club. really not much ear fatigue, djs play for hours there and say it felt like half the time.

Big video project tomorrow, 12 hours of Danny Tenaglia

Question to Charles:

What pedal effects did Adam Beyer use? Were they running in stereo or mono? I'm considering going with pedals instead of a Pioneer effect box because I'm only after the delay & reverb.

I am also deciding on whether or not to include some pedals in my setup at home with the xone92..

I know that Adam Beyer and others route them through the efx send/return on the xone efx section... Im guessing that its mono, but from what I know from those pedals they only do mono.

From what I could tell, Beyer had a Reverb and a Delay pedal and the cycloops.

A portion of the set was recorded here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atDJT0iSggk&sns=fb

Adam Beyer has certainly slowed down a lot since the 90s...!

Please tell me those lights on top of the monitors aren't on all the time. That would get tiresome very quickly, I reckon.

They are candles? Led candles or real ones? Pretty unique idea.

Yeah the rectangle thing was what I meant. Just curious, never seen that before.

the hanging candles are real and have been used like that for many years off and on at Stereo, we have to light them one by one with a bbq lighter, before the bbq lighter we used matches stuck to the end of bar straws lol

as for the spinning 4 beam bar, I love them for video, they look awesome and me too I have only seen them at Stereo, going to ask Roger the lightman all about them this weekend

For the next video I am going to use the sound captured from my camera, no external mic, next video is Victor Calderone

Oh, wow. That's kind of crazy about the candles. You have to really want it. . What do they use for DMX control?

You said it's a 5D right? Mine takes surprisingly good audio (for a camera mic).

They use a keyboard to cue some lights with a software I have no experience with unfortunately.. when I was filling in on lights in '08 they had a Spark 4D analogue controller, I am going to try and get up to speed on the lights soon to work with the lighting director on some video settings to create some great video without pushing my ISO too high.

The audio from the 5d2 is good, in the menu, "green star" (where you format the card) then in "Live View/Movie func. set." you go into "Sound recording" then adjust manually until you see the clip light illuminated but not steady.. with this you can achieve decent club sound from the onboard mic

as for the rotating pin spots in a horizontal row, they are from 1968! they were found in the back of the shop.. cleaned up and made to come back to life. Some if not most of the old analog lighting is far superior to the led crap of today, especially at a certain price point

I am egging Stereo on to refurbish their old lighting equip from the old setup to add more stuff..

with Stereo less is more, and Im just there to capture a bit of the magic in that place. will see if I can get some more stuff into the mix

when Morales and I

Spoke here in nyc at our weekly meetings David Morales and i had, we always spoke about lighting I had told him lets bring back the Beacons like the old days, ill make spinning T lights Like the Garage which hasent been done since the Garage he said Absolutlely, i shopped them here but wld be too diff to get thru the boarder, so wolfe Contacted solo tech and we had them mod them. These meetings DM and i had was always on what we wanted to improve on the SBS Beast and about bringing the pins & next level adv on lighting, I wanted to do egg drop strobes soooo much more back then at that time as well.

I made the upside down spinning t brackets here in nj on chandeler turners in my garage.

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1472355&type=3 u can see the Beacons hanging over the floor with Blue caps

as an effect I wanted to put Beacons in the Levans like Zanzibar had, but remebering Richard used mirro from Mirro balls to line the inside of the Waldorf and Levans for a lighting effect from Beacons i knew they wldnt work, So there were times I told David lets put them in the scoops as well to move them around to change the room feel from time to time.

So cool Shorty, I remember when you did this and it really gave an old school feel and real sense of the history of the Garage and what Stereo was really going for as far as sound and vision.

I think today the club is a good mix of old and new technology and it has managed to stay on the map for so many years. It still makes me smile to hear that system with a great dj (even if the Urei is relegated to a shelf most of the time)

Here is a Nicole Moudaber clip at Stereo

Video of Quentin Harris @ Peopl. Old Montreal

This club is owned and operated by Montreal DJ Jojo Flores.

They use a DJM900 for when its specified and have Jojo's E&S DJR400 in the mix when required or when a dj doesnt mind using a superior mixer with less gadgets.

Video is of Quentin Harris, May 18th - Track is : Fallin' - Quentin Percussion Vocal
