Here are the specs and the description of the box by the manufacturer, (unfortunately in German...)
Quote:
Die vor dem Tieftonsystem befindliche vertikale Metallplatte ist funktionell eine akustische Frequenzweiche zur Absorption der Frequenzen oberhalb 500 Hz (-3 dB pro Oktave).
We already had a discussion about those speakers

I admit, I don't have a clue about loudspeakers and audio arrangement.
Just can tell you what the manufacturer writes and what my ears tell me.

jnkarrik: Correctly, the mixer should not be shown. Is an own project, and until I am not sure what I do with it, I will not reveal the concept behind it. Only this: Something like this did not exist before

muzikdc: Tannoy Ellipse 8 Active (not the actual idp version). Meanwhile, I've also a TS10 Subwoofer supporting them.

As I said, I can imagine a slight filter effect. But this plate can absorb anything, but only "capture" in between due to sound reflections. But certainly not beginning at 500 Hz. Sound waves diffract around anything that is smaller than their own wavelength (of course this is a smooth transition)

You could tell me the size of the board and I could take a measurement next time I'm at the laboratory in Potsdam...

Actually I love playing on the kme discovery. Great EQ, sounds amazing.
But I'm actually dreaming of getting a kme djm-2. only mixer that I know with that much space between the EQ pots *__*

Straight Up @ Seda Hotel

These are pictures taken last night at my new bar. The booth was made by myself & a little help from a more experienced carpenter.

It can accommodate two (2) Technics SL-1200 MK2's and a 12" mixer. The removable/adjustable deck has room for up to three (3) cd players or a laptop and a few midi controllers. The booth is also on casters with locks so moving it anywhere in the bar is a breeze.

To break-in the new booth I brought out two bags full of VINYL. It was utmost pleasure being able to play again for crowd that took whatever you played for them.Seeing them groove in the aisles was reward enough. On an unusual note, a young lady came up to me and asked "where can I get those big black cds?"

Thats a awesome setup Mike, love that wooden console.

Can't believe you have 3 x A&H VF-1's, a Urei and a V6, so jealous.

Is that V6 the full tube version?

Class.

Do those VF-1s take a phono input, then, or do you have some external phono-pres tucked away somewhere?

Does anyone know what SPL meter that is? The LED display mounted to the right of the mixer, I mean.

Thanks, Estacy!

Shame about the price! 0_0

Wish I could find something similar that was affordable. I don't need it to be super high-end, just need a decent sized display.

Here is what I use for a DB meter. It's a Mcintosh MPM400 power meter. It is made for automobiles, but works fine with any amplifier and looks cool as hell. I used a 12volt wall wart transformer for power, and the other leads plug into the amplifier output. It looks big in the picture, but it is about as wide as a regular car stereo.

DIY Monitors

I built a pair of DIY monitors recently to make use of some drivers and horns that I had. I was trying to go for something JBL-ish looking but with my own personal touch added.

The woofers are 2220H drivers from the big 4560 horns that I had a few years back. The 537 horns are mated to 2441 drivers and crossed at around 500 hz. 450 to be exact which is a little low, but its either that or 700hz on the bryston. The 077 slot is crossed at 8k through an RLA X4000 (IE the tweeter output), and there is a JBL MRX500 in the corner.

Thoughts: I wish I had gone with a circular port, more like traditional jbl cabinets. For the midbass freq range I needed, only one 4" port would have been required, and I thought it would look goofy or off center, hence the slotted port. In hindsight, I wish I had just put in one or two more dummy ports that were plugged . This would have allowed me to play around with different drivers and port area / lenghts. Anywho, it is what it is - my first attempt, and it sure was fun!
