If that's the case, things might be quite a bit better than a bunch of Earthquakes. I don't know if I'm remembering it correctly, but I think Tim Lawrence talks about the birth of the Warehouse in Love Saves the Day (either that or it was in a film, like Maestro, sorry I can't be more specific). Anyway, what I remember was that Frankie Knuckles, being a Loft baby, wanted amazing sound and brought in someone from New York to do it. I don't have the book or film in front of me but look them up, I halfway remember it being Richard Long or Alex Rosner or someone like that who did the Warehouse.
