No idea, really!
I just know that people respect the (original) Bozak for it's warm sound, which exists at least partly because of its discrete topology. I might be wrong (and I'm talking about something I have no knowledge about really), but I believe it's easier to design a discrete circuit that doesn't mess with a signal's phase than an IC circuit. Sorry, I've done far too much background reading without any hands-on experience at all!
