Why are the scoops always reffered to as rear loaded ? The drivers face forward...
yes, the front part of the woofer cone is facing forward, and is the " Direct radiating " portion of the cabinet/drivers, and the back of the cone is loaded to the scoop from behind the woofers, rear loaded horn! The horn is the scoop, and begins behind the woofers, so it is the back wave off the rear of the cone thats driving the scoop horn!
The Altec VOTT cabinets are front loaded horns, because the front of the woofers load onto the horn firing out into the room!
