could the speakers get damaged if there's no distortion, or can i just turn it up until the speakers distort then turn it down without damaging them?

basic question about amps and speakers

my speakers say they can be hooked up to amps with 10-120 W/channel

my amp just says 185W (not 185W/channel). can i hook up the speakers without blowing them?

ok, i have a weird problem with my mixer. when i turn it on, there's a hiss/rumble as if the turntables aren't grounded AND when i play a record i can barely hear anything. i've tried unplugging...

i'm trying to record from my stereo to my laptop.

I don't see ANY gain adjustments in SoundForge. My cables are very long and my soundcard is old, but gain adjustments in SoundForge should be able to compensate for that (as long as i can find...

For recording mixes, will a compressor improve the sound?

I always end up getting variations in levels when i'm making a mix not matter how careful I am, and i hear that a compressor can even out...
