carts / styli....
anyone here still playing vinyl?
what carts are you using and what do you think of them? has anyone had experience with the ortofon concorde golds? i wouldnt mind a pair but can you set them up very accuratly and does the lift lever break easily? i heard they are just gold coloured nighclub 'e's? cheers. |
I use Ortofon DJS OMs on my Rega modified 1200's. Never had an issue with them.
When I play out on other turntables it's either the Concorde version of the Ortofon DJS or Shure WHLB White Labels. |
Ortofon Concorde PRO. Cheap and cheerful thats how I'd describe them. They sound good and can handle some abuse. They stick very well and scratching is possible.
Have I mentioned they're cheap? |
stanton 680's by far have the overall top performance on playback and record wear.
|
Audio Technica ATP2XN are by far the best sounding carts Ive used. I have used Stanton Trackmaster II, Stanton 500, Ortofon Concordes and OM10.

When you don't need to excessively back-cue then a whole range of options opens up.
|
Thanks for the replies. I'm into deep house, not scratching, back cueing etc...
I did a forum search, it seems the Stanton 680's were popular but it is still possible to get Stanton gear now, didn't they shut down? Wouldn't mind some Ortofon Golds or Nightclubs. |

Unfortunately no.. i have been surfing around for new styli's & had no luck. You can find current Stanton products, but earlier models such as the 680 EL/HP/AL are hard to come by. |
