Urei 1620 owners in London / UK - help!
I've recently become the proud owner of a Urei 1620 but am having a couple of problems with it.

1. There is significant 'hum' even with the records players wired up to the ground posts. This is particularly apparents through the headphones but also through the House output.

2. On both phono channels, sound now only works on either the left or right speaker. I can't get them to operate in stereo through both the left & right speakers (and its nothing to do with the balance dial!). Plugging CD players into the Line channels is fine. I've issolated the issue to the mixer rather than any other part of the system.

Has anyone else had similar problems ? any ideas how to fix this ?

Alternatively, does anyone in the London region know of an appropriate electrician who could help ?

Any help gratefully appreciated!

Hi Lee,

Check your pms, I've sent you a suggestion.

To reiterate though, London is full of "technicians" that will rip you off, be VERY careful.

BTW, the hum could be dried-up psu filter caps, as the unit may be 15 or 20yrs+ in age it would make sense to replace them.

It may be a few things. Loose rca conection on input panel. If you like send me an email I will give you my phone # and I will guide you threw it. I will be working on the bench most of the afternoon on urei mixers. I would like you to jump the phono inputs to line to check and see if the problem is still there. Regarding the hum try lifting the ground wire in the power cord.
