Anyone know anything about HK audio speakers? Never really heard of them up until today.
I heard a small HK rig today in a shop I used to visit a lot as I know the guy there, I was very impressed with the system.
It compromised of 2 passive tops (full range) and one active sub, can’t remember what it was powered by but the clarity and kick of the music was great.
A great little PA system what ever it was, I’m no expert on live sound at all, I hardly know anything on the subject but I know it sounded good, anyone else had any experience with this brand of PA and live sound gear?
If I was to ever do live stuff they would be very high on my list.

HK Audio is a German Company that is pretty popular in mainland Europe. They make quite a big range of both active and passive speakers that sound really nice. At the place I spin on Saturdays they have a HK Audio system which sounds really nice.
First time I heard HK Audio was at an M People concert. I was there with a friend who's in the PA business. He was so impressed he almost bought an HK rig, but he ended up going with a Nexo system instead, since it's a much more well known brand.
As far as I know they used to use B&C drivers for their speakers, but I'm not sure they still do that. You can find more info at http://www.hkaudio.com.

Hi Guys
I know of their products.
I got my father in law back in Australia one of their systems.
The reps were trying to get us to use some of their product but they were not really up to our standards. They offered us a system to try at such a good price, it was crazy not to buy it. It had powered subs and top boxes and was called Projection or something like that. It was loud as hell but lacked some quality.
My father in law used to play in a rock band and has a huge rehearsal room where all his old buddies go in and have a jam session every now and again.
It's great for that or the mobile DJ type system but i would not be using it in a top notch club install.

Most of their product range would be the slightly more advanced stuff you could find at guitar center or something. these would be hte actor, projector, lucas, etc. they are not recommended for the things we do, but can work out okay if you just need to amplify some crappy schlager band at a free beer garden or something.
Their cohedra and contour line array systems are better regarded, but also not so practical for what we do. If your options are best served by getting an off the shelf system, look for other brands

off the shelf? i dont know what is easily available in in the uk, but you do have martin, funktion one, and turbosound locally, although those are more deisnged for either bar or concert systems. I really like the german Coda/BMS designs. Other local stuff for you might be ASS or Void audio.

Turbosound used to be very popular here a lot of people told me and I have seen their products sold by Turnkeys, also a lot of places I have been to use Martin Audio in the DJ booths as monitors, I have a feeling Fabric uses a lot of their gear too.
The local club here had Martin’s installed in the booth also the Pioneer stand at BPM had them but I didn’t like the sound there (hmm maybe cos it was Pioneer lol, it was that fancy SMV video mixer and I thought it sounded bollocks), although locally none of the brands you mentioned I have seen available locally to me, it’s all mainly all JBL, Mackie, EV and the rest is the lower end stuff.
Electro-Voice seems to be poplar here too as being not bad stuff.
Also I have seen Funktion One being sold by some shops but it’s very expensive, I think the whole HK rig yesterday set you back £1K which wasn’t bad for the sound it produced.

hi all, this is the first time chatting on this forum but i have read most of the topics with great interest, i dont pretend in any way to have any engineering knowledge but ive been in the club game now for 20 years on and off as a dj (primarily deep house but also soul funk raregroove deep disco), promoter and club manager and i understand the importance of a good soundsystem (have previously worked in the home audio sales side for Bang and Olufsen in the early days, Sony, Nad B&W, all the usual off the shelf stuff) to drive the crowd (i feel its paramount).
Im now in the process of setting up a small members club in my home town and have been looking at george kampera's (formerly of RCF) new company KV2 Audio as an alternative to Funktion One, which is overused in my home town and i have yet to be impressed.
As i said i can only go by what i have been told about KV2 by my counterparts who have more knowledge than me and run the sound at my current parties (small gigs running 3.8k rcf ARC 322's with 4 bass units to a room of 100 or so being run purely from all technics decks, vinyl and dz cd players and an old rane mp/xp combo...i know i could do better but it has sentimental value due to its previous owner) and they seem to know there shit.
I believe KV2 are about to launch a cheaper range to counter act RCF (from what i hear george has still got a bee in his bonnet about them).
may be worth you having a gander www.kv2audio.com:D gary
it may be worth you looking at their kit, its a hell of a lot cheaper than funktion and

i know at the moment prices are steep (although half of funktion for what i have been told is immense quality) but there are rumours of a more affordable range to take on RCF, if not i would look at the RCF ARC range, not big boxes but have done us proud, 322's or 325's kick enough :D
