Hi,
I've finally given in and decided to buy a Cd deck; mainly for mates weddings and the like that I keep getting asked to do (I'm at that age!). Basically, I don't need anything with loads of effects or features or the ability to play MP3s or anything; just a good solid deck where the money has gone on the quality of the CD payer itself and the pitch control. I've been looking at the Pioneer CDJ 100, which is quite affordable at around £250 in the UK (I don't want to spend too much over £300).
If anyone has any advice around this i'd be really happy to hear it.
Many thanks in advance - Rob

Hey
I am biased a little as I love my Denon 3000's so i would think about this >>>>

£315 a little over your budget but worth it. Had my Denons a good few years now and apart from them refusing the odd disc i have had no problems whatsoever.
They have looping digital out and i personally prefer the pitch bend plus minus buttons than the jog wheel on . But as i said i have denons.
There are nicer players out there but not a great deal in that range i believe. I see the denon 1000's have FX too!
Shop around for some secondhand ones maybe?

Hello mate,
i have one of the cdj 100s and a pair of 1000s. The reason i bought the 100 was to familiarise myself with the stutter cue. This is not a difficult technique to get the hang of but requires a little practice.I bought this unit specifically for this purpose so i did not get caught out when playing at a venue with crap gear. The features are quite limited but it is a solid enough unit at the price. If you push the budget and get yourself a set of 800s you will find the cueing and vinyl emulation just like a turntable. I would go to a store and test run some machines. Try and get a feel for the features and think how you would feel about it twelve months down the line. You dont want to buy a cheap set now and....ya know.

I know sound wise the Pioneer cd players aren’t always praised but for dj use design wise they are the best IMO, simple, uncluttered and very straight forward.
Try the CDJ-800Mk2 if you can afford it, IMO you will only go back to vinyl after a few months though lol so may be go for a cheap and cheerful CDJ-100 then.
Me? I got the best of both worlds me…..lol

Haha nice photos vinyljunkie!
I'll have a look at the Denons and see what I think. Anyone have any thoughts as to which of the cheaper CD decks sound best - I guess I'm narrowing it down to pioneer 100 or 200 or denon deck.
Thanks for your help.

Denon 4500 twin deck is a good solid player with hot starts, loops etc.
As for Pioneer, ive A/B their audio with other decks and with vinyl and CDRs record from the vinyl. IMHO the sound quality is superb and very hard to tell any degradation at all, also the noice floor is extremely low.
I do wish Pioneer added the pitch bend buttons though, ive been so use to the Denons for the last 15 years!
